Takeoff description
Welcome to Arnipa on Andøya. From Arnipa you can take off in almost every direction. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk up from the main parking site in the north. North/North east: Take off towards the valley and head towards the road. You can land on the bog. East/South east: This area is best for soaring, and can be quite funny! Towards the south can it be quite steep so possibilities for some turbulence in the area. The whole mountain is covered in sharp rocks, so be aware!
Rules and notes
- Contact Andøya tower before flying. The flying site is just at the boundary of the control zone, so it is still mandatory to request flight clearance. Telephone: 76116272, or check out www.ippc.no for updated information about opening hours etc. If the airport is closed, you can fly without any problems. - Remember to close the gate when driving towards the mountain. - No landing near the cabins. - No landing at the bog south west of Arnipa, as this is a bird reservation area. - Do not scare away any sheep. Keep all dogs in a leash from April to Oktober.
